Family Scholarship Program
The PWSACO Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to families and organizations in the Mountain States area that have a direct connection with Prader-Willi syndrome. Recognizing the monetary requirement of caring for an individual with PWS, our goal is to make opportunities for the best care and resources a reality for our families.
We can help cover costs directly related to the needs of a PWS individual such as, but not limited to, medical costs, special therapies, living expenses, PWS related conferences, educational opportunities, and activities that improve the quality of life for the PWS individual. Each request is considered on a case-by-case basis.
Qualifications
Eligible applicants must have a direct connection with Prader-Willi syndrome. The scholarship program is open to individuals and organizations in the Mountain States region, including Colorado, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, and Wyoming, with a preference given to requests within Colorado.
Candidates may only apply for one scholarship per year. (Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.)
Application Process
Applications are submitted to the PWSACO Board of Directors online. Scholarship requests are reviewed monthly and applicants will be notified of the status of their application as soon as a decision is reached. Unfortunately we are not able to help all families who apply.
PWSACO prefers to pay vendors directly after the expense is incurred; however, exceptions can be made if the money must be paid directly by the family. Detailed receipts or invoices are required for payment.
PWSACO requests that scholarship recipients “pay it forward” by advocating our mission and educating others on Prader-Willi syndrome. In addition, a written testimony on how the money helped your family and the individual with Prader-Willi Syndrome is requested within one month of receiving the funds.
